UPDATE: A few of these brewers have been involved in a safety recall. I just found out about it. Here’s a link for more information. My brewer and some T-DISCS were affected by the recall. Tassimo Safey Recall
Disclaimer: I received a Tassimo T20 Brewbot to test and review in exchange for writing this post.
A friend of mine let me know that another mutual friend was looking for some people to try out a new home brewing coffee maker and write about their experiences. I drink quite a bit of coffee and have had experience with other brewers so I was interested in giving this one a try.
The challenge was that my family and I were getting ready to leave on vacation so I wouldn’t be at home to receive the shipment of the test brewer. I made arrangements and had my friend ship the brewer to my resort at Disney World so I could try the brewer while on vacation. Let’s just say I’ve enjoyed a far better cup of coffee than the one you’re going to get out of the resort coffee maker, even for Disney!
When I was walking back from the business center with my brewer I had a couple of people look at me with a strange look as I’m carrying this big box back to my room. As I was unlocking my door to the room, a lady passed me and said “Tassimo?! You’re drinking some serious coffee now.”
I was very surprised by just how simple and easy the Tassimo T20 Brewbot is to use. As I was just playing around with determining how I was going to grab a quick video of brewing a cup of coffee, I held my Flip video camera in one hand and started the process of making a cup. Turns out I didn’t need my other hand anyway, from start to finish, one-handed operation to a finished cup of great coffee. Let’s see making a phone call with you cell and trying to get out the door with a cup of great coffee? Done. Got one kid in your arm and trying to get the others out the door for school AND get your first cup of joe in the morning? Done.
The video below is the one and only video I shot of the process, I think its simplicity speaks for itself.
Don’t confuse the simplicity of operation with a minimum of functionality. If it’s a hot drink, the T20 Brewbot can probably handle the task. Impressively, each T-Disc is barcoded to tell the Brewbot exactly how much water and what temperature to brew for that cup. Perfect each time!
I’ve been enjoying at least one cup of Gevalia Signature Blend coffee each morning of my vacation since I’ve received the Tassimo T20 Brewbot, but there are plenty of other flavor and drink varieties to choose from.
Tassimo offers more than 40 beverage and flavor varieties to satisfy everyone in the house with 13 distinctive beverage brands including Milka, Gevalia, Maxwell House, Suchard, Mastro Lorenzo, Twining’s®, Kenco, Jacob’s, TAZO®, Nabob, Carte Noire and Seattle’s Best Coffee®. TASSIMO even satisfies your coffee-house coffee cravings with a great variety of Starbucks brands including Cappuccino Primo and Latte Primo. There’s even options for hot chocolate and a variety of teas for those out there that don’t prefer coffee.
I’ll be giving one of these great devices away to one of my lucky readers, so just leave a comment and tell me about your favorite feature of your current home brewer or pet peeve of one. I’ll pick one of the commenters at random and you’ll receive your own Brewbot to enjoy.
Update: My friend William, who also reviewed a Brewbot and gave one away, just inspired me with his post about another comment type. Leave me a comment on who you’d like to share a cup of coffee with, alive or dead, real or fictional. Just let me know in the comments and you’re entered.
Even if you don’t win, there’s a special offer now, if you purchase a Tassimo T20 Brewbot online here you can save $25 and get 2 free T DISCS!
If you’re already a fan of Tassimo products you can “LIKE” Tassimo on Facebook, or if you have some specific questions you can hit me up on Twitter or follow Tassismo on Twitter as well.

I'm fairly new to coffee so I have a certain "golden arch" favorite. I'd like to expand my horizons but don't want to buy a bag of coffee that I may dislike. My peeve with any brewer is consistancy. I have measured and measured both water and grounds and still never get a consistant tasting cup. I love the idea of the brewer knowing how much water to use and what temp the water should be at. This may be as close to consistant as I could ever get.

Bosch is a great brand for home appliances. We have the Concept Mixer and it is great. I'm sure that this would be a great machine as well.

Love single cup brewing

With four people in the house, all with different beverage preferences, I love the convenience of this machine. I can make four different beverages…a tea, hot cocoa, regular and decaf coffee…all in a matter of minutes.
Amy Stark says
Does it have to be connected to water? Or do you add that first. I worked at a place about four years ago that had something similar, but it was connected to a water supply. It was fabulous, btw, and I wondered if they made something similar for individual home use.

Okay, I'll get made fun of for this, but I keep going back to his name as I'm trying to think of who I'd have coffee with. I'd like to have coffee with Bill Gates. Not because I love all of his products, but because I think he probably has a lot of very interesting stories to tell about helping to build the world of technology we live in now. That, and he would probably pick up the tab.
Jeremy Lawrence says
Probably I'd have a cup of coffee with my grandmother who passed away around 25 years ago. I'd love to get her insights about the news and information of today…as well as show off my wife and kids to her.

I love the ability to set up the coffee pot the night before so I have hot coffee waiting for me when I walk into the kitchen!

I like that my pot has a water filter disk thing that sits on top of your coffee filter and I can actually see some minerals etc on it so I like that feature the best!
I would like to have coffee w/ my husband as he is usually working so a nice cup of coffee and good conversation would be really enjoyable!
Pngaertner says
I'd have coffee with my grandpa Wyss. Of all my grandparents he's been gone the longest.

I like the single cup brew!

I'm not a coffee drinker myself but know exactly where this is going if I were to win it, so I'll post a peeve about my mother's current "coffee maker". Since she was the only coffee drinker in the house when she was living with me, she didn't have a real coffee maker. She had a decanter on top of which was a filter-shaped cone that held a filter. The hot water came from one of those annoying tea kettles that whistles when the water is hot. At 5am. Every day. Whether I had to be up or not. This sounds like a MUCH better option to me!

I'd love to have coffee (decaf) with my great aunt, who was a nurse in world war 2. She traveled the world with the red cross, and she died before I could appreciate her stories.
Katie Killian says
And let's see…I would have coffee (or in my case, hot cocoa) with … (this is hard!) …
Katharine Hepburn. Not only am I named after her, but she was an amazing, strong, independent woman when women like that were hard to come by. I'd love to talk to her and learn how she did it.
Rguffey says
I would have coffee with my grandma. She passed when I was about 12 and I would have liked to talk to her about my family and trouble shoot with her. She was always so light hearted about everything, she was easy to talk to and get advice from, even on the tough topics.
Kristin Crabill Hunt says
I used to have a Senseo…..loved the darn thing to death UNTIL they stopped making my French Vanilla coffee and THEN stopped selling the little pods at my grocery store. It has been a coffee-less household at the Huntemans. We are currently looking to remedy that situation!
Hope the great Mouse House is fab. Missing the Bean family!
Emily Dudley says
I've always wanted a machine like this. If I invited someone over to have a cup of coffee I think I might invite Tom Hanks. I think he would have some fun stories to tell and seems like a pretty down to earth person.

I would like to sit down for a coffee with Einstein. Such a smart man and an interesting personality. Jim

I would like to share with my Mother!! She has Alzheimer's and unable to have a cup of coffee.

i hate having to measure out my coffee every morning and then having to clean up the spilled grounds that always end up on the counter. i saw a demo of this machine at walmart a couple weeks ago and it looks so awesome!
Acox says
My mother, she has Alzheimer's and is unable to have a cup of coffee.
Wendy S. says
I'd like to share a cup with my dad, who passed away in 1997. He was a big coffee drinker and would get a kick out of this new-fangled technology!
Mommyfreetime says
I would love to have a cup of coffee with LL Cool J. I mean what is more relaxing than sipping on a cappuccino with one of the hottest men alive across from you. He wouldn't even have to talk. LOL
Esa525 says
I was wondering the same thing as Amy S, if it has to be connected to a water supply. If I could share a cup of coffee with anyone, I would share it with my grandmother. She had this "one-cup-at-a-time" machine many yrs ago. It was harvest gold colored if that gives you any indication of age. She would drink her "freeze dried" instant coffee and I'd make hot cocoa.
Tina Gray says
I would have a cup of coffee with the love of my life, my husband..without the kids of course..:)
Katie D. says
My current brewer went haywire, and now I'm trying to get by on instant, not going to happen. If I could share a good cup of coffee with anyone, it'd be my mom. We would have time to sit and talk without my kids and actually catch up with each other.

I just want to sit down and have some coffee and a quiet moment with my husband. This would be such a great addition to our house. I have heard great things about the Tassimo.
Mzientek81 says
I'd love to share a cup of coffee with either of my grandfathers. I was very young when I lost both of them, and I would love to hear some stories!
Jason Bean says
For those wondering. The Brewbot does NOT need to be connected to a water supply. It has a water reservoir that's easily removed and refilled as necessary. I'd estimate about 10 cups of coffee from one reservoir.
Bolesx6 says
I would definitely have a cup of coffee with my mom who passed away almost 16 years ago. My coffee pot is nothing fancy but I much dislike when the coffee grounds still end up in my coffee no matter what I try to do to make it work right.
Dallenknox says
I would love to share a cup of coffee with my childhood friend….she lives in SC, me in IN and we have not had coffee face to face for quite some time. We used to share several cups on Sunday mornings while our kids were at religious ed…..I really miss her and our coffee time.

I must admit, I bought a Tassimo because of the recommendation of this blog. I always swore I would never buy what I thought were expensive individual coffee machine. My wife used to set up our regular coffee pot every night fr the next day, now in 60 seconds she can have her coffee with no set up. My wife now sings praises to me every morning since I brought home the Tassimo T-20. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

Got a new Bosch Tasssimo machine and have the following question. Am I the only one having trouble getting the machine to use all the milk contained in the cappucino milk creamer? Mine is using only one half of the t-disk. Seems like I'm wasting the other half (or can I reuse the disk for another cup?)
Bnpositive says
Sherry, that does seem odd to me. I'll see if I can get a Tassimo rep directed over here to the blog and get you an answer to your question.
