As a follow-up to my thankfulness and appreciation of our Veterans yesterday, I wanted to share this story a friend of mine posted on her Facebook wall of her experiences traveling yesterday.
This was her updates across a series of posts.
Guy in front of me just gave his first class seat to a soldier. He’s talking to his wife now, telling her he told her he’d make it home to her and that he would see her at 15.10. Very, very cool. He is sooooo excited.
More to my story about the soldier on the plane. When we landed he let out a wooohoo. The attendant thanked him and others for their service and the plane erupted in applause. The guy who was picking me up at the airport said that he noticed a young woman in a beautiful little black dress and heels, obviously eager for someone to arrive.
The 2nd part of what I just posted: When the soldier came into view and saw her, he dropped his bags and ran to her, picking her up and swinging her around. Just like in the movies. We put our stories together and decided this was a perfect Veterans Day experience.
May we all be willing to make the minor sacrifices to honor those who have made major sacrifices in their lives. Not just on Veteran’s Day, but every day moving forward.
UPDATE: My friend just shared with me this post that told another side of the same story. Just powerful stuff!
