Yahoo! Upgrading Web Mail
This article details out work being done by Yahoo! to upgrade their webmail client. This is a good and bad thing for me. See, ever since I’ve been using Gmail, I’ve been contemplating making it my default email client for friends and family instead of Yahoo! I’ve already replaced my Hotmail account with Gmail. Still have the Hotmail account, but don’t get much there anymore except for spam. Definitely can’t say that about Gmail.
The one major thing that’s been holding me back from making the switch is just making sure everyone updates their address for me in their address books. But this particular quote really hits the nail on the head for me.
Golvin said Yahoo is looking to keep existing customers happy more than winning new Yahoo Mail users. “This is more about cementing greater loyalty of customers that might have been casting their eye at (rival) Gmail,” he said.
Yahoo! definitely hasn’t been doing anything to actively keep me around.
Looking forward to seeing how all these improvements being talked about really changes Yahoo! Mail. Of course the other interesting thing from Gmailis their ability for me to be able to send messages from the Gmailclient that make it look like it’s coming from other accounts owned by me.
Origami and a PnDA
To translate the title, take what you know about folding paper and combine it with the possibility of creating a personal non-digital assistant. The result = PocketMod
In all of my relevant geekness, this is still a pretty sweet little resource. Here’s the deal, a collection of little page templates for writing down those little tasks that you’re faced with on a daily basis: note paper, calendar, shopping list, table, tip chart, games, etc. There are currently 28 different option templates, and you can put up to 6 on a single 8.5×11 sheet of paper.
Just visit their site, use their online creator built in Flash and print off your little 6-page pocket resource, then follow their provided instructions for folding and BAM! instant pocket organizer.
I’m going to play around with it some more and figure out a way to make a useful fold without the need for scissors. However, even with what’s provided, a great little tool for keeping yourself organized without carrying around an actual PDA or Daytimer!
