Get it while the getting is good folks. This old set of tubes and the rest of the information superhighway is about to hit a roadblock and go the way of the dinosaurs, or worse dial-up!
The Web will start to seem pokey as early as 2010, as use of interactive and video-intensive services overwhelms local cable, phone and wireless Internet providers, a study by business technology analysts Nemertes Research has found.
“Users will experience a slow, subtle degradation, so it’s back to the bad old days of dial-up,” says Nemertes President Johna Till Johnson. “The cool stuff that you’ll want to do will be such a pain in the rear that you won’t do it.”
Ah man that just sucks! Now excuse me while I go inform the researchers about a little thing called an upgrade.
All kidding aside, the study group did say the report wasn’t saying it’s all doom and gloom. We shouldn’t have anything to worry about as long as all the companies build up their infrastructure and other support hardware.
Good news for me. I was starting to wonder what I was going to do for a life after 2010.
