I recently received an e-mail from a friend that always cracks me up with their outlook on how things are going. He also regularly really makes me think about the situation for my own understanding and challenges me to think deeper and sometimes differently.
I thought I?d share his recent comments about our current political situation and see what everyone else thought.
? I can’t say what will happen in November. I still remember NBC in 2004 saying that Kerry was winning Ohio & was sweeping early returns on the east coast (as Midwesterners were still voting) as a prelude to his triumphant victory. I remember Gore up by 5-7% on the first day of November in 2000. They both lost. We just do not know.
The truth is that no Democrat has received over 50% of the popular vote in 32 years & only Bill Clinton has won an election. That very well could change this year, but it is still a fact. I would agree that Obama very well could win if he keeps moving to the center and people do not think to observe his incompatible record of ending up there. It worked for Clinton.
I do know this. Our entire government is a freaking joke, and the Democratic majority in Congress is every bit the abysmal laughing stock that George Bush is. Their approval rating is 9%. Nine percent. While being lame duck & nutless, George Bush is currently 300% more popular than the Democratic controlled Congress.
It is no accident that Pelosi & Reid are rarely seen on TV much these days.
The sad truth is that the whole lot of them sit idle as our decay continues. There are no heroes or saviors on any horizon in government today, and the bastards will not let the private sector fix our problems. Power, promises & inaction rule.
While it is not fair to blame Congress solely for everything that has worsened since 2006, the fact is that they ARE IN POWER & they do nothing. If I was a Democrat, I would be pissed. These clowns have failed you every bit as much as Bush & the Republican congress of 2004 failed Republicans.
If the American voters really are seeking change, then the legislative branch should be held every bit as accountable in November as the executive branch.
Maybe it shouldn’t be so quickly forgotten that both candidates are IN the Senate.
What do you think? Is George Bush REAL PROBLEM? Do we really expect Obama or whomever wins to be the REAL SOLUTION?
I?m very interested in hearing your thoughts.
