UPDATE: A few of these brewers have been involved in a safety recall. I just found out about it. Here’s a link for more information. My brewer and some T-DISCS were affected by the recall. Tassimo Safey Recall
Disclaimer: I received a Tassimo T20 Brewbot to test and review in exchange for writing this post.
A friend of mine let me know that another mutual friend was looking for some people to try out a new home brewing coffee maker and write about their experiences. I drink quite a bit of coffee and have had experience with other brewers so I was interested in giving this one a try.
The challenge was that my family and I were getting ready to leave on vacation so I wouldn’t be at home to receive the shipment of the test brewer. I made arrangements and had my friend ship the brewer to my resort at Disney World so I could try the brewer while on vacation. Let’s just say I’ve enjoyed a far better cup of coffee than the one you’re going to get out of the resort coffee maker, even for Disney!
When I was walking back from the business center with my brewer I had a couple of people look at me with a strange look as I’m carrying this big box back to my room. As I was unlocking my door to the room, a lady passed me and said “Tassimo?! You’re drinking some serious coffee now.”
I was very surprised by just how simple and easy the Tassimo T20 Brewbot is to use. As I was just playing around with determining how I was going to grab a quick video of brewing a cup of coffee, I held my Flip video camera in one hand and started the process of making a cup. Turns out I didn’t need my other hand anyway, from start to finish, one-handed operation to a finished cup of great coffee. Let’s see making a phone call with you cell and trying to get out the door with a cup of great coffee? Done. Got one kid in your arm and trying to get the others out the door for school AND get your first cup of joe in the morning? Done.
The video below is the one and only video I shot of the process, I think its simplicity speaks for itself.
Don’t confuse the simplicity of operation with a minimum of functionality. If it’s a hot drink, the T20 Brewbot can probably handle the task. Impressively, each T-Disc is barcoded to tell the Brewbot exactly how much water and what temperature to brew for that cup. Perfect each time!
I’ve been enjoying at least one cup of Gevalia Signature Blend coffee each morning of my vacation since I’ve received the Tassimo T20 Brewbot, but there are plenty of other flavor and drink varieties to choose from.
Tassimo offers more than 40 beverage and flavor varieties to satisfy everyone in the house with 13 distinctive beverage brands including Milka, Gevalia, Maxwell House, Suchard, Mastro Lorenzo, Twining’s®, Kenco, Jacob’s, TAZO®, Nabob, Carte Noire and Seattle’s Best Coffee®. TASSIMO even satisfies your coffee-house coffee cravings with a great variety of Starbucks brands including Cappuccino Primo and Latte Primo. There’s even options for hot chocolate and a variety of teas for those out there that don’t prefer coffee.
I’ll be giving one of these great devices away to one of my lucky readers, so just leave a comment and tell me about your favorite feature of your current home brewer or pet peeve of one. I’ll pick one of the commenters at random and you’ll receive your own Brewbot to enjoy.
Update: My friend William, who also reviewed a Brewbot and gave one away, just inspired me with his post about another comment type. Leave me a comment on who you’d like to share a cup of coffee with, alive or dead, real or fictional. Just let me know in the comments and you’re entered.
Even if you don’t win, there’s a special offer now, if you purchase a Tassimo T20 Brewbot online here you can save $25 and get 2 free T DISCS!
