I just met a developer at SXSW that’s developing a website to help individuals help their community with the improvements that are desired in the community. David James with Collective Insight is working on a website called Community Goals to deliver this goal to fruition.
Awhile back I wrote about a website that was setup by the folks at Hamburger Helper called MyHometownHelper. David’s working on a site to deliver the same type of service, but to bring more to the deal than to just take people’s money and leave it at that. He’s also incorporating the benefit of keeping individuals involved in the process from start to finish.
As David says on his site, he’s got three main goals:
- Find people with goals
- Connect them with people who give money
- Deliver people who can provide solutions
Here’s how the site works:
Tell the world about your goals, challenges, and problems — even if you don’t have the solution yet! Like-minded people contribute to the goal. Contributions are pooled. Solution providers bid to win the opportunity to carry out the goal and get paid. Each contributor votes on his or her favorite bid. The winning proposer is notified to do the project. After the work is completed and verified, CommunityGoals pays the solution provider.
A great idea! Go uncover the benefits of Collective Insight and see if there’s something good you can do for the community in your area.
