The National Review has listed their Top 25 Films of the Past 25 Years. I’m a little surprised about the list. Some of the movies that are on the list and some that aren’t.
I’ve seen 20 of the 25.
The ones I haven’t seen?
- The Lives of Others
- Metropolitan
- Brazil
- United 93
- Team America
Have you seen these? What am I missing? Should they even be on the list? What movies aren’t on the list that should be? Here are my additions:
- STAR WARS
- The Shawshank Redemption
- The Princess Bride
- Good Morning Vietnam
- Gladiator

Star Wars was released in 1977 – making it 31 years old (which is probably why it isn't in the top 25 for the last 25 years ;))

It looks to me like the went to a gas station with one of those 'discout DVD' racks and listed every title they saw! It is certainly a very generic list.

Brazil, for me, is the best film ever ever! You gotta see it! Not surprised it's in the list – it's a black comedy, romantic, fantasy, adventure, thiller – kinda a bit of everything, with even a cameo performance from Robert de Niro. You're obviously not a Monty Python fan?

The one word that's left out of your review (which may explain some notable exceptions) is that this is National Review's Best 25 Conservative Movies of the past 25 years… apparently, the Princess Bride doesn't extol conservative values enough throughout the film.
