Working on some websites today and coming up with some fresh color schemes. I was browsing back through my list of Favorites and uncovered the Color Schemer Online website.
I like this version because it’s pretty straight forward. Grab a color, specify what it is by either its RGB value or hex# and the system spits out a group of colors that compliment your original color. You can then choose to lighten or darken the scheme as desired.
One of the features of this site that I really like as someone that continues to teach themselves new things is that the selected colors plainly show the RGB and HEX values for the proposed colors. A good way to get an idea of possible colors and how slight changes impact a group of colors. Learning this type of information can help you put together your own color schemes in the future without using a tool.
You can also download a full-blown color scheming application to your desktop for offline use for a small fee. A great tool on their site you can download for free is their Color Schemer ColorPix app which is free.
The one thing I’d like to see in a color schemer is the ability to input a couple of different colors and make a scheme from multiple colors.
