Daniel over at NowMediaCorp sent me an e-mail for one of my other blogs, C.S.I. Fanatic, earlier letting me know Paul Guilfoyle was going to be on their NowLive website. Although he was letting me know for another reason, I wasn’t familiar with NowLive so began looking around and finding out more about what they offer.
NowLive is a live mobile community for Southern California. Unlike traditional community web sites and media companies, our goal is to create a new form of “interactive media” where DJs will be hosting live shows on NowLive while they interact with field reporters who are doing interviews, sending in live videos and photos from around Southern California. The best part of NowLive is that YOU can become a DJ or a field reporter and get paid! Or, you can just sit back and enjoy the show(s) from your desktop or cell phone.Â
Currently they’re in beta, but it seems like a pretty interesting site. They’re really capitalizing on the web’s ability to provide anyone with the desire and a little bit of talent (not completely required) to be a voice for their community or their niche topic. The site lets individuals upload pics, video, audio and text from either their cell phone or computer and either themselves or a host reports on it live from the community. The closest I can get an analogy with is somewhat like a live podcasting service. Currently they’re focused in the Los Angeles area but will be expanding to other cities nationwide soon.
There are literally hundeds (maybe even thousands) of different shows that are available ranging from a huge variety of topics. A quick search for a popular topic in general, American Idol, produced results with about 5 different options of shows or reports.
Check out their demo, if you’ve got the itch inside of you to have your voice heard on the public airwaves, this could be your chance. Dust off your headset and microphone and see where it leads you on NowLive.com. Oh, and did I mention you can actually make money doing this for NowLive?
