Would you have guessed what the photo was of before reading the title of this post? The iconic bathtub on a pole should have given it away as a full-size model of the classic Milton Bradley game, Mousetrap.
I’ve got a mouse that has made my garage home and I need to take care of him/her. Something like this may be overkill, but catching a mouse in a giant net isn’t the goal of this mousetrap. Instead, it’s dropping a 2-ton safe onto whatever object you would prefer.
But instead of dropping a cage on a cheese-stealing rodent the ultimate goal of this ‘mouse trap’ is to drop a 2-ton bank safe on any object of your choosing. ‘Laughing Squid‘ has a Flickr gallery showing the contraption being used to crush a giant 1,200 pound pumpkin at Hallowe’en but you’re really only limited by your imagination and what you’re willing to clean up afterwards.Â
CAUTION! The links above to the Flickr group has some photos of women wearing pasties and holding pieces of cheese, which neither myself nor another commenter has figured out the purpose of in the photo set.
Hat tip to OhGizmo again for another interesting story, and if you’d like to see this thing in-action and in-person it will be at this year’s Maker Faire.Â
