In my recent quest to finally figure out how I’m going to setup a reliable and almost brainless back-up plan for my computer, I uncovered the backupify website (after a tip from my friend Noah Coffey). You can currently use the service for free to backup a variety of online website data.
My first question after seeing the site is why would I really need to backup my online data like that? It’s online. Don’t they backup their own stuff? After reading through the site, there are a number of obvious answers to that question and all of them make me feel like an idiot for not thinking of them in the first place.
To put it plainly. Businesses shut-down. Things happen. Backup stuff yourself!
You can currently start using backupify for free and backup settings and content for your Flickr, Twitter, Del.icio.us, Zoho, Google Docs, Photobucket, WordPress, Basecamp, Gmail, Facebook, FriendFeed, Blogger, Hotmail and soon to be many more.
Getting things setup with each service was super simple and where available, the backupify service takes advantage of the new authorization options available with many social networking services. Props to you backupify!
