Don’t get me wrong, I’m from Kentucky but I’m not pushing for barefeet for everyone. I’ve just got to get this off my chest and vent for a minute. I can’t stand the following two types of highly popular footwear right now: Crocs and Heelys.
What is the deal with the popularity of these two items?
This guy agrees with me in that he just doesn’t understand, but realizes they’ve really hit the mainstream when you’ve go the nursing and physician community wearing your wares.
It’s a 21st century version of the old “jelly” shoes that were popular in the 80’s. Plus, they look like your grandma’s garden clogs. I’d think the only place that should be popular is in the garden and the hospital. Having a pair of plastic shoes you can throw in a boiling pan of water for sterlizing would come in pretty handy for medical professionals I’d think.
And the Heelys? Those are just annoying. Maybe I’m getting too old or something. “Get off those crazy rollin’ shoes you little whipper-snappers!”. Nope, these suckers are just dangerous, at least one kid has already been killed wearing them.
My kids wants pairs of both and I don’t know how I’m going to do it.

Okay, seriously, Crocs are like the best shoes ever. I have two pairs and everyone in my house has a pair. I even shipped some to my grandmother who wears them religiously. I am not usually one for fad items but when I bought my first pair, I could not believe how good they felt. I stopped caring about how stupid they look and bought more. My kids love them and they are great summer shoes…
Heelys, on the other hand, are a vile little invention and I think that they should be banned, outlawed, etc… Not only are they dangerous, they help already inconsiderate children be more of a nuisance in Wal-Mart and, besides, aren't our kids lazy enough? Geez, they need to just walk places for a change.
Verdict: 50/50 – I support the Crocs, hate the Heelys (shudder)

I don't like them both, but I do wear clogs to the OR (I'm a student nurse) lol However, I have Birkis instead of Crocs. Between the two you mentioned, I'd choose… Birkis Haha!
