I’ve been very happy with my Gmail account and been using it for quite sometime now, ever since I got an invite from my good friend Ryan, thanks Ryan!
There’s UNLIMITED storage space and they do an excellent job of eliminating SPAM from my Inbox. The unique structure of Gmail eliminates the standard organizing component of folders. Instead, messages are “tagged” with topics. All messages all remain in one of 3 places: 1.) Inbox, 2.) Archive, or 3.) Trash. With the unlimited storage space none of these ever HAVE to be deleted, but I do just to keep things tidy. If you know something is trash, why keep it?
The standard feature of setting up rules is available for systematically tagging and moving messages. Even forwarding and automatically archiving items.
You can also setup Gmail to work with your preferred email client via POP accessibility.
Another nice feature is that since you don’t have delete messages, it keeps threads of messages together for later reference for additional messages in the thread. Although this would be similar to just including the contents of a message in any replies. Gmail eliminates the need to do this as all the messages in the thread are tiled for quick access chronologically to review the history of the thread.
And of course, given that the service is provided by Google, the ability to quickly search all of your e-mail or the web is easily, and efficiently done.
I currently have 7 email addresses that I manage: 2 POP3, Hotmail, Yahoo!, Gmail, AIM, and Juno. For all the features, Gmail is my preferred e-mail address, but I still maintain each of them for different purposes.
If you’d like to have a Gmail account of your own, just leave comments to this post with your e-mail address and I’ll send you an invite.
