This past weekend was a productive one around our house. The weather was beautiful, so while the kids played outside, my wife and I went through the garage and began sorting and clearing things out for the Goodwill. We ended up with over 15 garbage bags of clothes and 3 car loads of toys and various furniture items.
Sadly, we also ended up with a significantly large pile of trash and stuff, along with two appliances, that’s now in the front corner of our garage. The goal was to get things cleared out so we could park at least one of the cars in there, but the pile of junk is impeding that completion of that goal.
Today at work, there was a 1-800-GOT-JUNK truck across the street so I decided to check-out their website and see what they offered. Since I know our existing trash pick-up won’t pick-up anything not in a garbage bag, I’m left with finding other options. The truck across the street was loading wheel barrows full of dirt and lawn refuse, so I’m sure they’ll take my stuff.

In 1989, university student Brian Scudamore encountered a tight summer job market in Vancouver, BC. It was that summer, while waiting at a McDonald’s drive-thru, that Brian discovered his future career in junk. Brian spotted a beat up junk truck with Mark’s Junk Pickup painted on the side, and was inspired to spend his last $700 on a used pickup and start his own junk removal service.
After three increasingly successful summers, Brian knew it was time to take his Business to the next level. He invested in more trucks, hired student drivers, and set out to make his company and its phone number a household name- 1-800-GOT-JUNK? The World’s Largest Junk Removal Service.
The folks at 1-800-GOT-JUNK, sure seem to know how to have fun getting rid of our clutter and making our lives easier. They’ve got jobs available as well as franchise opportunities if you’re interested. I’d think this could be a very profitable business to get into.
