I attended the Indianapolis Airshow today at Mt. Comfort Airport, just east of Indianapolis. It was a beautiful day, but very overcast, that will come into play later.
If you’re an aviation buff, then you’ve probably already attended an airshow and know how fun they are to enjoy. If you’ve never been to an airshow, I really encourage you to find one in your area and take the family. When you do, you can expect to see acts like these, which is what we enjoyed today:
- Red Baron Pizza Squadron – These guys were entertaining, the combination of air manuevers and 4 planes at once is interesting
- Jurgis Kairys – This pilot was very entertaining and one of the first performers in the show
- Bulldog Air Shows – By far my favorite pilot and act. He made his aircraft do things that should be physics-ly impossible
- F-18 Hornet – Truly amazing how slow and fast this machine can go and the manueverability. Very loud too!
- Rich’s Incredible Pyro – this act caught me by surprise. Coordinated large pyro-technic blasts as the planes were flying, started with the Warbirds, but then had a special performance and encore by Jurgis and Bulldog. Seeing and FEELING an 300ft wall line of fire explosion was very memorable.
- Flight for Diabetes – the only insulin dependent aerobatic pilot on the planet
- Red Eagle Air Sports – entertaining duo team
- Ed Hamill – fighter pilot promoting Air Force’s “Living the Dream”
- Stu Moment – Interesting pilot, first dreamed of becoming a pilot at 6 years of age. Same age as my son that joined me today.
- US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team – skies were overcast so they didn’t get to perform their normal routine, entertaining still.
- USAF Thunderbirds – Absolutely amazing to see the precision these pilots can fly with each other and perform for the crowd.
