Can someone please tell me why automated phone systems will ask you for your phone number? Haven’t they heard of CallerID? I know it can be blocked, but 90% of the time the information they need is probably right there. Or, if it’s not your phone number they ask you to punch in it’s an account number, and what happens as soon as you actually talk to someone live? “May I have your? account number please?”.

My Anti-Footwear Campaign
Don’t get me wrong, I’m from Kentucky but I’m not pushing for barefeet for everyone. I’ve just got to get this off my chest and vent for a minute. I can’t stand the following two types of highly popular footwear right now: Crocs and Heelys.
What is the deal with the popularity of these two items?
This guy agrees with me in that he just doesn’t understand, but realizes they’ve really hit the mainstream when you’ve go the nursing and physician community wearing your wares.
It’s a 21st century version of the old “jelly” shoes that were popular in the 80’s. Plus, they look like your grandma’s garden clogs. I’d think the only place that should be popular is in the garden and the hospital. Having a pair of plastic shoes you can throw in a boiling pan of water for sterlizing would come in pretty handy for medical professionals I’d think.
And the Heelys? Those are just annoying. Maybe I’m getting too old or something. “Get off those crazy rollin’ shoes you little whipper-snappers!”. Nope, these suckers are just dangerous, at least one kid has already been killed wearing them.
My kids wants pairs of both and I don’t know how I’m going to do it.
Bnpositive and b5media
Some of you probably realize I write for a couple of different blogs on the b5media network. I’m currently writing on The Microsoft Weblog, Uncover the Internet, Christian Music Fan and co-blogging with Lynn (who’s an absolutely fabulous blogger!) at CSI:Fanatic.
The past couple of months have had their challenges. Most of it surrounds the word “balance”. Things are really cranking right now with the priority of the day job. I’m still managing numerous webclients on the side, and of course the blogging with b5media. I used to be blogger at Emerging Earth, Office 12 Watch and Idol Stalker as well, but things had to get cut back somewhere and those were the identified targets for a little downsizing opportunity. That’s okay though, because Mike is doing a great job over at Emerging Earth now as well as Jeanne at Idol Stalker. Office 12 Watch is going through a little rebranding and makeover with a new blogger too.
For all of that information, many of you probably have no clue who b5media is or what they do or where they came from. Our CEO and one of the original founders, Jeremy Wright, recently had this post on the Chitika blog about our history as a company.
Even at b5media, the blog network I help run, that we?ve often stumbled along a little bit. Sure, there?s a bit of a process for going from 3$ a day (where we started) to 3,000$ a day (what we?re about to reach)? but we totally ignored that process. We made a lot of mistakes. This post is designed to share a few of the lessons we learned while stumbling along in the dark. Sure we got lucky, had a fantastic team and had great timing? but we still made a crazy number of mistakes! I hope you?re able to learn something from them ;-)
Exciting times for sure, so glad to be a part of it and can’t wait to see where things continue to go and grow.
I’d love it if you stopped by one of my sites and let me know what you think. If you’ve got a website some links to my sites would be great as well. If you’ve got a blog of your own that you’d like me to check-out, or maybe a website you’d like me to “uncover” and share with the world, just let me know as well.
