This post will have multiple meanings playing off the “Grand Slam” theme.
First, last night in our first game of our co-ed softball league tourney, I hit a grand slam! That’s right! Bases loaded, I’m up to bat, 2-outs and I crank one over the fence. Sounds great right? WRONG! In our league, hitting one over the fence is an automatic out. Now, I don’t normally hit them over the fence, normally don’t really come close. Our coach was joking with me as I was going to the plate and said, “Grand slam scores none!”. I said, “Thanks for the encouragement” kiddingly. Then what do I do? Crank one out of the park. The cool thing is, aside from it feeling great to do it, I didn’t hardly even swing, just relaxed and hit the ball. Now, if I could just do that on Monday night’s men’s league, where it would count and were we have an 0-a bunch losing record.
Second, I’m really hungry for breakfast this morning. My preference would be Cracker Barrel, following closely by Bob Evans or IHOP, but at this point a Grand Slam Breakfast from Denny’s would taste pretty good right now too.
Lastly, while trying to find a cool little picture for this post, I came upon the one above that I finally used. Now for anyone that’s cool enough to know that it’s a G.I.Joe action figure, I commend you. I was a HUGE G.I.Joe collector as a kid. I started with STAR WARS figures, but quickly moved to G.I.Joe since you could actually bend them at their joints and pose them a little more. I still maintained my love for STAR WARS, just not as much for their action figures. One of these days, I’m going to get all my G.I.Joe stuff down and take pictures of everything I’ve got. That should take place in the next 10-15 years when I’ve got free time to get to that task on the list.
