Hopefully I can stay under the proverbial radar on this one.
A trademark dispute is heating up between a European company called SmileyWorld and Wal-Mart over rights to use the familiar smiley-face logo. SmileyWorld registered its trademark in France in 1971, but that may not carry much water here in the U.S., where Wal-Mart has been using the smiley face in stores for at least ten years. To Wal-Mart, SmileyWorld is nothing but a trademark troll.
