Jobloft is a new, Web 2.0 company that set to make their mark on the job board, recruiting industry. After spending over a year in the recruiting industry myself, developments of this sort have a different level of interest for me. What’s weird is I was just contacted today from another company that was looking to hire me as a recruiter again. No thanks!
What makes Jobloft set itself apart from the competition, with the likes of Monster, HotJobs, CareerBuilder and others, is that they focus on a specific niche and give you specific features. Jobloft is focused on the retail, restaurant and hospitality industry and is currently only available in Canada, but they’re preparing to launch in new locations including the United States very soon.
JobLoft.com is your destination for retail jobs, food services jobs and hospitality jobs.
Looking for jobs in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary or elsewhere in Canada? We have full time, part time, contract, summer, seasonal & temp jobs.
Using Web 2.0 technologies such as Google Maps, AJAX, RSS and tagging, you’ll find the perfect job based on where YOU live.
The site has got all the Web 2.0 lovin’ you can handle with bold colors, simple design, and all the AJAX you can handle. The site is built in .NET with a SQL back-end and was created start to finish by a group of 4 college kids who have since graduated and launched the site back in May 2006.
One of the interesting and very useful features of the site is to not only find a job close to you using a Google maps mash-up, but to also inform and highlight public transportation options for you in the area. Although not restricted to just younger jobseekers and college students, the combination of features, transportation and distance assistance, and high-turnover employers is a perfect match.
