A friend actually uncovered this website for me through an e-mail he just sent. Recently there were two boys in our community that were killed a railroad crossing. Someone found the MyHometownHelper website and put their request in for help to install RR crossing lights and arms at an intersection that currently only has a stop sign. The request here.
The purpose of the site is that the General Mills food company has established this site to allow citizens to submit their requests for help in their community. There’s a wide range of requests already on the site for things like playground equipment, safety improvements, a Main Street makeover, defibrillators, etc.
Every month General Mills gives away $15,000 to make these requests a reality. What a great idea!
If you’ve got something you’d like to see done in your community and know it would be a great thing that everybody would get behind, you just don’t know how you’re going to make it happen; the MyHometownHelper site could be your answer.
