I’m sure many of you will recognize this line from Monty Python’s story about an enormously large restaurant patron eating plenty of food. He continues to eat, followed by technicolor yawns into a bucket. He eventually has one last bite and explodes.
Seems like that same thing has happened in the wild recently in the Florida Everglades. Burmese pythons have been abandoned in the Everglades on a regular basis by their owners, and this is causing concern since the impact of them being non-native to the area’s other wildlife is questioned. A big concern is how they will impact the top of the existing food chain, alligators.
This photo shows what happens when you literally bite off a little more than you can chew. This Burmese python popped from it’s recent attempt at swallowing a 6-ft live gator.
My question is, don’t pythons strangle their pray and make sure they’re dead before eating them? One theoryis that this gator clawed at the snakes stomach from the inside trying to get out. Somewhat reminds me of the picture I’ve got of the anaconda that was cut open and human body was found inside of it.
