This post on the Blognosis site caused me to revisit the opinions I’ve had before regarding things Christians can no longer do in public without backlash.
Hi there! Not to offend you so please don’t take offense. Your blog tag-line “Walking the Path of Least Resistance” (though cool & catchy) I alone, believe is exactly the problem. Christians have been ‘giving in’ to the secular movement on every corner.
No More Bibles in school (Well, OK.) No more prayers during school activities (What!! Well, OK.) No More Ten Commandments in government buildings (Are you serious? Well, OK -ugh.) No More swearing on the Bible (OK Hello! If not to God, the ultimate Authority, who then do I swear to?) and now NO MORE PLEDGE? Why now after 50+ years has it BECOME unconstitutional? The hearts of men are slowly hardening towards God.(Hebrews 3:8,15;4:7) What’s next? No More Bibles in public places? No More saying “God Bless You” when someone sneezes? No More Church functions in public arena’s? (sorry Billy Graham) No More paintings of Jesus Christ or the Last Supper in public museums? The problem with Christians is, we need to Know More! Why is this happening? How do with stop it?
Even though God has been publically recognized in this country since it’s founding, why don’t they just keep it simple: Just tell us for now on, “No More displays of the Judeo-Christian God anywhere!” Isn’t that simple enough? God has left the building…of America!
See, it seems to me that we’re not allowed to pray in public, reference a higher power, change the Pledge of Alliance because it references God, no more “In God We Trust” on currency, etc. But it’s okay for “Christians” to be confronted with infidelity in TV, hard core rock music acts, illegal drug marketing, nudity and pornography, foul language, etc. and we’re told to just deal with it. Seems pretty one way to me.
