You may have seen my previous post of the music video for “White & Nerdy” by Weird Al Yankovic. Although I had heard of Revver before, I’d never really played with it until the other night. Let me say, I’m impressed. The Revver website states what they do just about as clearly as it could be stated:
Revver is…
.. a video-sharing platform built the way the internet really works. We support the free and unlimited sharing of media. Our unique technology tracks and monetizes videos as they spread virally across the web, so no matter where your creativity travels, you benefit.
.. the viral video network that pays. We connect video makers and sharers with sponsors in a free and open marketplace that rewards them for doing what they do best.
.. committed to the artist. You have something to say and we built our network to empower you to say it.
I know, I know, you’re saying but I already have an online video site that I use and like. Probably YouTube or GoogleVideo or something else. That’s what I thought too. Yet the thing that impressed me the most about Revver was, well it wasn’t just one thing, it was a few different things.
-
Nice and clean interface, not to busy with text, focus on the video, that’s the purpose right?
-
Video quality. Sometimes what you end up seeing on the other sites is so pixelated you feel like you’re back in the dial-up modem days. Let’s use this broadband we’re paying for right?
-
MONEY! MONEY! MONEY! – Revver pays you 50/50 for the advertising that’s placed on videos that you upload. So if you’re an independent movie maker or musician and you’re trying to get your name out there, this could be your chance. Also, if you share videos you get a little bit of a kick back too.
Now I guess I can see that “Revver” could have been dreamed up because of the revenue stream that can be obtained from more eyeballs paying attention to what’s on the site. It’s not just about advertising revenue though, it’s also about viral marketing and getting your own product in front of a larger audience right?
You can expect to see more great videos posted on my sites from Revver. Great tool. I’ll apologize in advance now for the time you’ll waste just browsing their archives. Stay tuned here and I’ll hopefully be bringing you some of the top videos available every now and then.
