How many times have you been mindlessly surfing through the web and halfway oblivious to the world around you? You’re paying attention but you’re almost numb to really what’s happening in front of your eyes. Then you see it. It kind of catches you off guard and immediately you’re alert and perhaps irritated. You’ve just seen a SparkWord.
A SparkWords is something you read and you’re immediately "sparked" with emotion. It could be a variety of emotions, but you immediately feel something inside of you.
The SparkWords site allows you to jump into the topics of interest for you. Share your thoughts and be challenged by the thoughts of others related to these words and phrases.
It might be a particular word or controversial phrase that gets you fired up while you’re reading a blog, skimming a story, reviewing a product, or crawling the social web.
Whether you’re into sports, politics, business, celeb gossip or anything else, SparkWords let you ignite, jump into, or follow debates and discussions on topics that matter to you.
I like the idea, but I think they need to expand the functionality and ease with which you can jump into the conversation. I think they should be using twitter and you can be alerted via the micro-blogging tool when one of your SparkWords is shared online. I also think tools to let you quickly add your own SparkWords to the conversation through a toolbar or right-click contextual menu.
It’s still in beta so I’m sure the features and development will continue.
