On my old website, before I moved everything to WordPress, I had a page where I highlighted the miracle tumor removal surgery that my father-in-law had over 10 years ago. My sister-in-law asked me where those photos went, so I went and grabbed the page and converted it to a blog post.
Here you go...
On Friday, December 15, 2000, my father-in-law, went into the hospital to have a tumor removed. It was 10 pounds, 12" x 14". That's almost the size of our son that was born a year earlier. Marvin came through the surgery well and was recovering well. A couple of days later they couldn't get his kidneys or colon function and kept him in the hospital a couple of more days for a renal transplant. He seemed to have jump started them back to working by walking up and down the hospital hallways for exercise. He recovered from all the complications and made it home on Saturday, December 22, two days before Christmas. We were blessed to have him with us and to be home.
These two photos show the scan of Marvin's torso that show the tumor. The black area is the tumor. Notice how all the other organs were pushed out of the way and around his back, by the size of the tumor.
The pictures below are from the surgery and are fairly graphic, but definitely do a good job of telling part of the story.
