[Stepping on soap box] I’ve got a little bit of a bone to pick with developers. I’m not sure though if I should be upset with website designers or with application and plugin developers. In this case the app developers are the folks behind Evernote and the website developer is Mozilla Firefox.
I’ve really enjoyed my overall experience with Evernote and take most of my actions from within the Evernote bookmarklet tool. The problem is that sometimes the website has divs or other layer objects that lay on top of the user-interface for the Evernote application. It doesn’t just happen with Evernote, but it’s my last experience, so that’s the one I’m going to complain about at the moment.
With the issue above, I can’t even save the details I’m wanting to archive for later use. The layer from the website is obstructing the view and ability for me to click on the buttons within the Evernote tool. It’s really a pain.
I’m not sure what the solution is. Should an app be expected to always have the highest z-index numbering to make sure it lays on top? Should we instead expect web developers to take advantage of controls within their own responsibility?
Time for all you developers and designers to speak up and let us know.
