This post over at 43 folders gave me the little tip I’ve been needing and spoke of recently in my quest to manage my time and stay on top of my blog reading. To RodeoClown, maybe this will help you too.
The post encourages you to setup a “Probation” folder for any new blog you think of adding into your precious reading list. Keep it there and read through the blogs every few days instead of everyday. This will give you a broader idea of the types of posts that can be expected and if they will be worth your while.
So, I’ve setup a new little “Probation” folder in my Bloglines account.
The other little mention was that he had a “Deleted” folder he used when he removed a blog. Now this was a pretty simple solution, I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before because there are times were I may be tired of a blog for a little bit, but then forget about them sometime in the future and they might have something interesting to say.
So, I’ve setup a new little “Deleted” folder in my Bloglines account.
The other suggestion they mentioned was that you could set your aggregator to only check for updates in these folders on a less than daily basis. Regretfully, Bloglines doesn’t have the ability to check for updates for different groups at different times, or at least I can’t find it. If you know of a way to do it, or if the new Google Reader will do it, let me know!
