This evening my family and I took advantage of a little Family Movie Night. Tonight we watched a sneak preview of a new movie premiering on FOX this Saturday, April 16th at 8pm. The movie, “Truth Be Told” stars Candace Cameron Bure and David James Elliott. Our family really enjoys watching family friendly shows together. We hope to see more positive, moral viewing options like this in the future.
Candace’s character, Annie Morgan, is a marriage/relationship counselor and Elliott’s character, Mark Crane, is a recently widowed single-dad trying to raise his family and keep his after-school program afloat.
One evening at an event, Annie and Mark run into each other and realize they went to college together and Annie even tutored Mark, who was the star quarterback. Also making an appearance in the movie to build the football backing was NFL quarterback, Kurt Warner (playing himself).
While at the event Mark was trying to get investment funding to keep his after-school program running from a successful businessman, Mr. Bishop, and didn’t quite make the sale he had hoped. This same businessman ends up asking Candace’s character to spend the weekend at his family’s home in New Mexico with her family to interview to host a radio show.
There’s only one problem with the invitation, Annie’s not married, but Mr. Bishop thinks Annie and Mark are married with two kids.
Annie and Mark decide to run with the little lie so that they can both hopefully land the job and the investment for each other. As you can expect, the little lies don’t make it easy to come out with the truth until finally the truth must be told.
I’m leaving quite a bit out of the storyline of the movie so hopefully that’s been enough to really encourage you to take the time to watch the movie with your family. Remember, it premieres Saturday night at 8pm on your FOX station. If you can’t be there, be sure to set your DVR so you can watch it later.
If you haven’t placed the Candace Cameron Bure name yet, she was on the show “Full House” back when I was a kid. Luckily she’s grown-up and matured a little better than the Olsen twins and is following more in her brother, Kirk Cameron’s footsteps and participate in movies like this that are uplifting to families and moral values.
It was also great to see Danny Gokey from American Idol Season 8 make a cameo as himself and sing a couple of great songs. Danny Gokey is Mr. Bishop’s neighbor in the movie.
You can watch a short preview of “Truth Be Told” below. Again, I encourage you to watch the movie yourself and tell your family and friends about it. You can use the social media buttons at the bottom of this post to share with your friends by Facebook, Twitter, email and others.

After you watch the movie, be sure to let me know what you thought in the comments here and let the producers and sponsors know that you appreciate Family Movie Night on their Facebook page as well.
This film gave us the opportunity to talk about the impact of honesty and lying with our kids. We’ve already had discussions about the impact of the loss of trust in relationships. It’s nice to see shows that positively illustrate and reinforce the example, the consequence and the restoration of what can happen when the truth is told.
