I’m currently managing over 50 WordPress installations and continuing adding new clients that I begin installing WordPress for their use as well. As part of my management of their sites, I have a group of WordPress plugins that I like to use and always install for clients.
I’ve chosen FileZilla as my FTP program of choice. I’ve used CuteFTP, SmartFTP, and FireFTP within Firefox to manage transferring files. Given that I’m using FileZilla and it’s a powerful application there’s something I’d think it should be able to do and it can’t.
I want to save a group of files or folders as a set and then be able to upload that group of files with one click after I’ve connected to the server and location that I want to upload. Right now I can’t determine if that’s really possible with FileZilla.
The closest I’ve come is to pause the upload queue and drag folders and files into the queue. I can then export the queue as an XML file to reuse later. The only challenge with that is that the XML file also includes the remote server’s connection information. That’s where it gets hung up the destination server is what’s going to change each time.
If someone knows how to do that in FileZilla, please let me know. If one of the other apps I mentioned earlier can do it. Let me know that too, and I’ll go check them out again.
