It may not be the first place you’d think about going for professional photography tips, but Microsoft has a nice collection of resources and information available for everyone interested in photography and extended their knowledge and skill set.

The Microsoft Professional Photography website has collections of beautiful images, articles to improve your skills, photography event listings, photo related software downloads and more. If you’re looking for answers to that question that’s been bugging you for quite sometime, you might just find it on their website. The layout and organization is nicely presented and very easy to find what you’re looking for all this time. There’s also a variety of opportunities to accidentally stumble across some information that will further expand your expertise as well.

There are a variety of interesting photo and file management related programs available in their downloads area. Application for managing color in Windows XP, photo assignment information to include in your Microsoft Outlook and a variety of tools for managing and manipulating images in the RAW image format.

All-in-all the Microsoft Professional Photography website is a very rich and useful resource for any budding photographers out there.

Is Spam Really Working… It must be right?

Taking care of one of my regular Monday morning routines. Doing a quick scan of my email Junk Mail folders and trying to figure out if there’s anything in there important. A very rarely get false positives in my spam filters, but every now and then it does happen so I’ve got to scan quickly.

As I’m scanning I usually do a couple of things to make legitimate messages pop-out a little bit from the rest of the junk in the folders. I’ll sort by name first and quickly delete patterns of emails, then switch to sorting by subject and do the same thing. I’ve found by doing this I can usually eliminate more than 50% of my junk mail quickly. Today I started with 286 messages and after these two steps I had it down to about 120 messages left.

Looking at subject lines closer I began to ask myself exactly who’s actually looking and clicking on this stuff? That’s how it works right? If people weren’t clicking on the messages and the links included in them, spammers wouldn’t be doing it right?

Spelling mistakes, lewd subject lines, false hopes, Nigerian money schemes, and now the ever popular Acai berry. Who’s clicking on this stuff? If you’re reading this and you are, STOP IT!

Celebrating 3 Years Blogging on Uncover the Internet

It was three years ago today that I wrote my first post for Uncover the Internet. My first post was about the YouSendIt service which lets you send large files to people via the Internet instead of email. It’s a site I still use and recommend to this day.

Over the years I’ve written about quite a few different sites and interesting things you can find on the world wide web. The web is loaded with fun stuff to find and share with others and hopefully we can keep uncovering interesting items and useful sites for you to enjoy.
