I’m not sure exactly why it was, but when I was a little kid growing up, I absolutely loved taking my daily, chewable Flintstone vitamins. I understood they weren’t candy, but they tasted good enough and I felt good about helping my body get more vitamins, even though I may not have understood all the physiology that was happening because of them.
I hadn’t thought too much about giving my own kids vitamins for some reason though. If you’re one of my regular readers, you probably have heard me talk about my family trying to eat healthier and eat more organicly grown produce and meats. When I had the opportunity to get my kids to try some new Emergen-C Kidz dietary supplement, I figure it was another good step in the right direction for our family.
With chillier weather starting to creep in on the Midwest, giving the kid’s bodies a boost of nutrients and vitamins will be a welcome defense over the colds and flu that come with this time of year.
These are not the Flintstone chewables you may have grown up with like I did. These little packets of powder can be mixed into a glass of water and it turns into a smooth and bubbly fruit drink for the kids. The instructions say to use 4oz – 6oz, giving you the ability to make a stronger or lighter tasting drink that’s just right for your kids.
We received sample packs of their orange, fruit punch and grape flavors (my personal favorite) to try and they all taste great. Each box comes with 30 single-serve packets that would be fine to mix into a bottled water container and toss in the cooler for the next sports game your kids are playing.
The other thing that’s great about Emergen-C Kidz is that they’re also helping to provide essential vitamins to kids around the world through a partnership with Vitamin Angels with their Emergen-C Kidz Pledge, which you can join online via Facebook:
For every box of Emergen-C Kidz sold, we will donate 25 cents to Vitamin Angels, to provide essential nutrients to one child for one year, helping reduce childhood mortality worldwide. For every pledge, we will donate an additional 25 cents to Vitamin Angels, which means your commitment to your family’s health and wellness can help save a life too!
They currently have almost 18,000 pledges on their page, I’d love to see my readers help push that total to over 20,000.
You can do more than just add your pledge of support though, you can try Emergen-C Kidz for yourself by just leaving a comment here and letting me know why you’d like to try Emergen-C Kidz or share a favorite memory you have growing up as a kid yourself.
