It’s that time again, time for Family Movie Night in the Bean home. Through my involvement with Dad Central Consulting I’ve had the chance to catch sneak peaks of previous Family Movie Night premieres. This Saturday night we’ll be watching the latest premiere, “Who Is Simon Miller“. It’s a little bit of a departure from previous movie night topics where the story lines usually centered around a quaint little family where one of the kids works through some kind of issue related to their parents or some trouble they’re having at home. Instead, this story is about a dad who turns out to be a secret agent spy that his wife and kids knew nothing about. Everything was going fine until one of his own colleagues seems to have double-crossed him.
“Who Is Simon Miller?” stars Loren Dean as Simon and Robyn Lively as Meredith, his wife. All in all your normal looking family, their 18-year old daughter Sarah is having problems at school and their 15-year old son Kevin is totally into video games and technology, and is totally psyched that his dad turns out to be some kind of spy. A revelation that his daughter and wife still are working through the feelings of betrayal they’ve been thrown into.

Pretty interesting already right? Be sure to catch the premiere of Who Is Simon Miller? is on Saturday, August 6 on NBC at 8pm ET/7pm CT.
I can tell you that our family has enjoyed every Family Movie night that we’ve seen and enjoy seeing more of these family friendly films broadcast on our TV’s into our living room. So, we’ll be sure to catch the premiere ourselves Saturday night, and I’ve already got the DVR set to record if something unexpected should come up and interfere with our plans.
What our family has found in these movies is that they provide opportunities to talk to our kids about the themes presented in the movies: honesty, integrity, bullying and I’m sure with this one, trust and keeping secrets.
