Twitter continues to be a powerful tool for me for a variety of uses. It’s so much more than just a mechanism to find out and talk about where I’m eating or what I’m doing at the moment. Although I do use it for that and appreciate similar updates from others. You see it’s my opinion that all of those updates form my perception of the people I follow and who they are in reality as well.
One of the tools I’ve been using lately to get more out of my twitter use is called Mr. Tweet. The Mr. Tweet tool takes a look at those people I follow and those that follow me on the micro-blogging service.
The other nice addition to the tool is that it takes a look at the gaps in my network and makes suggestions for people that I’m not following and that I may want to take a closer look at and begin following.
I can find out what people are recommended by my network of followers as well as those that recommend me and that I recommend.
Another nice feature is that I can also find communities of twitter users on the network based on the topics being discussed in their tweets. For example, Mr. Tweet is currently recommending that I might enjoy being a part of communities related to Microsoft, Blog World Expo, Blogging, travel and e-commerce. All of these topics are areas that interest me.
The power of twitter is based on what you put into it yourself. To get a better idea of the value of what other people are putting into and how they’re using it, expand your network and learn more about your own usage with Mr. Tweet.
