I’m in Cincinnati this weekend for a softball tournament and to see my brother and his family. I’ve been trying all weekend to get connected to his wireless network and have not had any success. I’ve now had to seclude myself from the rest of the family and work on the computer hardwired directly into the switch.
I have tried every last thing I can think of to try and figure out what’s going on with my connection and have gotten nowhere. To make matters worse, my wife picks up her laptop and connects right out of the gate! ARGHHHH! Oh yeah, and my cell phone connects with no problems as well.
There’s no security on the network, which I won’t go into now, and no other reason I can think of why my computer won’t connect. I’ve done all of the following a number of times with no success.
- ipconfig /all
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /flushdns
- multiple setting changes in TCP/IP properties
- Manually cleaned ARP CACHE (C:\>netsh interface ip delete arpcache)
- Quick repair/properties of wi-fi network settings
I’m just not sure what the deal is. Now that the weekend is about over it’s kind of too late. My last thought is maybe my entire wi-fi hardware is dead, but I’d think if that was the problem I’d be getting errors as I performed all these other steps.
If anyone has an idea of what I’m missing, just let me know.
