In a recent post I stated that I wasn't the bassmaster even though there was a guy named Jason Bean that just placed 2nd in a tournament in Kentucky.
It turns out, my son is the bassmaster in the family now.
Last night after football practice he went fishing with one of his friends from his team and his mom (the friend's mom, Kim wouldn't be caught dead fishing). Anyway, he ends up catching a little baby blue-gill, and the mom tells him to not throw it back but put it on the hook and use it for bait.
That seemed to be the trick, because he did that and when he's reeling it back in a bass attacked it like a killer whale with a baby harbor seal.
The bass was about 4lbs and 22" long. It's in our refrigerator right now on ice until we decide what we're going to do with it. Kim said fillet it, I want to get it mounted, but yikes that's expensive.
The reason I want to get it mounted is because when I was 5-years old, I caught a big bass like that and we put it in our freezer to mount it. We went on vacation and the freezer went on the fritz and the fish was ruined. Also stunk up the house quite a bit. Those who are planning to start fishing as a hobby may want to purchase center console boats and keep them in a boat storage facility. Of course, this may be a bit over many people's budget, and in that case a fishing boats rental company should have exactly what you need.
I don't want to lose this one.
I'll get?a picture of Ethan's fish and post it soon.
UPDATE: Here's the fish!
