UNO!
How many times have you heard that phrase in your life? Probably frequently if you’re like me and my family. We spent plenty of time as kids sitting around the dining room table, a card table or just laying on the floor playing the classic, family card game, UNO.
Most of the time my preference has always been the simple, classic UNO. Grab some cards, match the colors or numbers and try to get rid of your hand of cards faster than anyone else. Make a few friends or enemies along the way with a strategically place reverse or Draw 4. It’s one of the first games you can play with your young kids as they’re growing up that is still fun and remains the same at all ages.
There’s a new version of the game though that adds an interesting spin to the game. A cute little robot that remembers your name and a simple little tweak to the game by letting you add your own “house rule”. It’s called UNO Roboto ‘House Rules’Â and puts a 21st century spin on this classic family card game.
To begin, players record their names and add any house rule they’d like no matter how silly such as stand on one leg or dance like a chicken. As the game progresses, UNO Roboto will randomly select the sequence of players’ turns, shout out house rule challenges and even change the direction of the game. Plus, every player can add and change rules, creating a unique and customized play experience during every game.
That’s a little boring though don’t you think? When we had our little UNO Roboto ‘House Rules party over the Thanksgiving holidays with family, the “house rules” got a little more creative. Our kids were so excited about playing the game with their cousins that I didn’t even make it into the fun. The kids got setup and started without needing any help getting the UNO Roboto configured for them to play.
Throughout the game the UNO Roboto will change things up and sometimes throw a little wrench into your strategy and plans. It really starts to equalize out playing field for all the players regardless of age. Another great reason to continue to love UNO!
If you’re running out of some creative ideas of your own for house rules, you can Like the UNO Facebook page and get ideas from other families experiencing all the same fun you and your family do when you play.
For a limited time, if you purchase any Mattel game from Toys ‘R’ Us, you can receive a free Shutterfly photo album between now and the end of the year. Now you can capture all the fun of a family game night during the holidays into a keepsake memory book from Shutterfly.
Note: Â I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of UNO Roboto and received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
