Last night my family enjoyed a meal with some friends from my college days at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio. You can read the details about our Weber Grill experience on my I Choose Indy blog, but I wanted to highlight a little bit of a public service announcement here for the upcoming winter weather.
With colder weather comes wearing coats, and when it's really cold you walk around with your hands in your pockets so nothing gets cold right? Well, just let me warn you to be careful when you're walking up steps with your hands in your pockets. If you slip on some ice, lose your balance, or just trip, your hands can come in pretty "handy" to break your fall.
Last night my son took a little face plant onto the steps as we entered the Embassy Suites making our way to Weber Grill Restaurant. With nothing to stop him, his face less than gently smacked the brick steps to the entrance and busted his lip real well.
I had already entered the building, but when I turned around to see what happened and realized what did, I was expecting to see lots of dental damage that would be in need of an emergency room visit at the very least.
As you can see from the photos, he smacked hard, but really toughened up and never let it show that much in public. He's a great kid and I told him this would be a fun battle scar to share with everyone at school today. I'm still expecting it to bruise up nicely in a couple of days, probably just in time for Thanksgiving and our trip to Walt Disney World.
