I love technology. Love new discoveries and developments in science. I'm a proud and regular reader of Popular Science and Popular Mechanics. I've always enjoyed reading about new cars and I'm very happy to see the development of more and more electric cars on the market. I just have one question.

Where's All the Electricity Coming From to Charge These Batteries?

I was reminded of this the other day when I heard a news blip on the radio about how our local power companies are saying they're set for the summer power drain that always happens due to everyone running their AC in the house, putting additional demand on the power grid.

As more and more electric cars hit the market, that's more and more cars plugged into the network grid sucking power up, causing more demand just like all those AC units. Can we handle that additional energy?

How will this additional power be compensated for in the grid? What will we use to generate more electricity to power these cars? Build more power plants with the help of power plant construction contractors? More wind farms? Or a solar panel installation? I'm sure part of the answer is that yes, most of these cars will be recharging in the evenings when their is more power generally available to the grid. Logitech VX Nano Mouse – Battery Alert

I’ve got to say that I have been more than extremely happy with my new Logitech VX Nano mouse. It’s got loads of features that I’ve enjoyed and a number of other ones that I haven’t even become familiar with or started using regularly.

One of the features that was actually key for me was the ability to actually turn off the mouse with some kind of button. My old mouse would just go to sleep supposedly when no movement occurred, which was nice except that when I put it in my backpack there was usually lots of movement that occurred. My daughter would say “Daddy, your backpack has a red light on inside it”. Which of course was the mouse laser proudly proclaiming it was indeed powered up and ready to point and click.

I don’t have that issue at all with the Logitech VX Nano. When I say “Off” (okay, not actually when I say off, but when I push the button) it’s off. I have come across a little bit of a frustration though in it’s “critical battery alert”. It’s warning me that the batteries are at critical power, but tells me I’ve got four days left of use. To me, four days left isn’t critical. Maybe a day is fine because finding a AAA battery really isn’t too difficult of an objective that it will take me a few days to accomplish.

I’ve also got no way to adjust this alert’s timing other than for it to tell me I have 10% power remaining, which equates to 4 days in their algorithm I guess. What I want to adjust is the actual day or percentage to warn me.

But hey! Other than that, I love my Logitech VX Nano, this along with a couple of other previous Logitech purchases makes me eager to look for other devices. I think I’m in a real need for a laptop web-cam.
