Shopping For Your Baby: Tips

Baby Clothes on the Line

Shopping for a baby can be such a confusing experience since everything looks similar and adorable. You may end up buying the whole boutique if you are not careful. So it is important to know what exactly you are looking for since babies grow so fast and might not even get to wear everything you buy if you splash so much on baby clothes.

When shopping for baby clothes, you should consider size, the material and how comfortable they are. It is important that the clothes be well-fitting; not too tight nor too loose. Tight clothing gives babies injuries while the loose ones aren’t as adorable.

Keep in mind

The beauty of most baby clothes is that they are unisex and can be worn by any gender. When shopping, there are a number of things to keep in mind which will determine how you choose the baby clothes.

Feeding a newborn baby is, more often than not, a messy affair with spillages all over. Considering that and the fact that they have to stay fresh, baby clothes have to be changed often, sometimes up to six times a day. What this means is you should have enough clothes to last them at least two days to give you sufficient to do the laundry work. If you need help with your laundry, you may consider looking for a laundry delivery service provider.

Factor in the fact that a baby needs to wear at least one more layer of clothing than an adult to keep warm, you should ensure your baby has enough clothes to change every time they are fed or bathed.

Comfort

Baby clothes need to be comfortable enough for the baby to stretch their limbs without it getting too tight and bruising them. The clothes should keep the baby warm but not too hot that they become cranky or start crying. Neither should they be too light to expose them to the cold to make them shiver. If you are still not convinced you can check out baby shower gifts to buy online and get them delivered at home just in time for that special occasion. Learn about the newborn experience photography studio. baby photography Raleigh team approach and style to newborn photography is clean, simple and minimalistic with an emphasis on your baby as the beautiful artistic subject.

What to consider

Pick clothes of varying colors and designs to give your baby a fashionable look. The best material for baby clothes is soft fabrics made from cotton. Cotton is preferred to synthetic materials like polyester since they allow the skins to breathe in addition to feeling snuggly and comfortable with the sense of touch. Soft fabrics are also easier to wash and dry.

You should, however, avoid clothes with tight necklines that have to be pulled over the baby’s head. They often bruise the baby’s scalp and are quite uncomfortable. Furthermore, the clothes need to be easy to wear, so you don’t have to bend and squeeze your baby’s legs and feet into it.

For sleep time, it is recommended to use baby sleep sacks which are comfortable and don’t have any frills around the neck which might choke the baby or accumulate dribbles and cause sores on his or her skin. The advantage of having a sleep sack, acting as a blanket, for your baby is that they are worn like any other clothes which eliminate the worry whether your baby is properly covered or not during nap time.

Buckles and anything that requires pointed chips for fastening is a no-no for your baby clothes. There is obvious danger in such accessories, and simple buttons should be used instead for baby clothes.

My Son and His Coastal Dog Swim Shorts

Coastal Dog Apparel

I participated in a Blogger Activation on behalf of Dad Central Consulting for Coastal Dog. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.

The weather is warmer and the sun is bright! What that means in my family is that usually my wife and kids are going to be spending more time at a swimming pool and enjoying the warm, summer days and cool, relaxing water. My son is quite the swimmer, but does something that's always bothered me. It's a pesky little thing, but I just never understood why he did it until recently. You see, whenever he goes swimming he'll wear his swim trunks and his skivvies underneath. That is until we found these swim shorts from Coastal Dog Apparel.

What I didn't realize was my son didn't like the way most of his swim trunks fit and how they'd chafe his legs when he'd swim. There were days they'd spend the entire day at the pool, so he'd be pretty sore in the evenings when he'd try to sleep. The Coastal Dog trunks have a soft, inner short to fight what the makers call "beach rash". When my son first put them on, he said, "they have sliding shorts inside them!!" What he was referring to were the padded, fitted shorts he'd wear under his baseball uniform. He immediately loved the shorts and didn't complain about any chaffing the entire day at the pool with my wife.

These are not "cheap" swim trunks. But let's be honest, those cheap swimsuits are the ones that leave you sore and make you not really want to spend the day at the pool or the beach right? And like the Coastal Dog folks say, "Beach Day Should Be All Day"! The other great thing you've got to keep in mind about Coastal Dog Apparel is that everything is made in America and helps employee people here in America. If that's not enough, 100% of the profits this company makes goes to support charities that focus on helping children.

They've got shorts for men and boys in classic solid patterns as well as a Malibu floral print as well. They also have sweet, worn and tattered looking ball caps as well. Check 'em out and banish beach rash for you and your boys as well! And if you need cargo shorts, make sure to check out different options from sites like https://www.unionbay.com/collections/cargo-shorts-for-men.

Grab a FREE Land’s End Mesh Polo

It’s casual Friday in most offices today and chances are you’re wearing a polo shirt and some kakhi pants if you’re a guy. In my job I can go business casual with most clients and for that reason I have a closet full of polo shirts and thanks to Land’s End new mesh polo, I’m hoping to have some more!

Land's End New Mesh Polo

I was able to add one of these new polos to my closet recently and I’d like to help you add one to your closet as well, but more details on that later.

As part of a promotion I received a new Land’s End Mesh Polo in my choice of color. I chose the “Bold Sun” (you know, bright, smiley happy face and all!) yellow polo and I can honestly tell you this is now the best polo shirt in my closet. It’s super comfortable, and although the fabric has a nice, quality weight to it, it’s not overly warm. In fact, one of the days I wore it I walked a number of blocks downtown Indianapolis to grab some lunch on a warm day and was still comfortable. This polo just feels great as you’re wearing it and looks great too!

I have a closet full of polos that I wear on a regular basis. I normally always where a t-shirt under them because sometimes the fabric inside can be a little scratchy, however this new polo from Land’s End is super-soft and I wouldn’t need to wear a t-shirt under it if I didn’t want to anyway.

Grab a FREE Polo For Yourself or Your Dad

Like I said, I picked up the “Bold Sun” yellow, but they’ve got so many other great colors I’d really like to add more to my closet, and I just noticed that price on them on their website is just $20-25 depending on size. I normally don’t ask for anything for Father’s Day, but perhaps I’ll make an exception now. I’d like to give you one of these polo shirts COMPLETELY FREE! All you need to do is leave a comment about why you think you should grab one of these shirts. Perhaps it’s for yourself, or maybe you think your dad just needs a little update to his wardrobe. I’d also love for you to Twitter about this post, use hashtag #BnpositivePolo and copy your Twitter comment into the comments here as well so I can count them as an entry. I’ll pick a winner randomly from the entries I receive before next Friday, June 24th.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go see what colors of my old polos I should replace with one of these new mesh polos from Land’s End.

Note: “I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Dad Central Consulting on behalf of Lands’ End and received a polo shirt to facilitate my review, one to giveaway, and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.”
