7 Quick Ways to Brighten Up Your Day

Smiling Horse

Everyone has to face the fact that we live in an imperfect reality and, as a result, some days are just less enjoyable than others. In fact, we can all agree that some days are downright horrible while others are filled with fun and laughter. It's almost as if we're riding along on a rollercoaster just waiting to experience whatever life hands us. Is that really how it has to be, though? Well, another really cool thing about reality is that we're mostly in control of the things we do, watch, say, listen to, and partake in, so we can have a huge influence on whether we have a fun day just by making a few decisions. With that said, here are seven quick ways you can make just about any day better:

1. Tell a Few Jokes

If you're having a conversation with someone and things seem a bit dreary and boring, you can liven things up a bit by telling the best jokes you know. If you don't know any good jokes, well then there you go – researching jokes is a fun activity in and of itself.

2. Go for a Walk

Going for a walk or jog gets your blood flowing and exposes you to sunlight, both of which will put you in a better mood. Of course, you should make sure you're hydrated and properly dressed because there's nothing fun about coming home exhausted, dehydrated, and uncomfortable.

3. Browse at the Mall or Attend an Event

Who said you have to spend a bunch of money to have some fun at the mall? You can have a great time just walking through the stores, meeting people, and maybe having a quick bite to eat at the food court. Shopping malls and plazas are exciting places to be and building a shopping list of things you want to buy the next time you come back can also be fun. Alternatively, you could consider attending an event like a local fair or concert.

4. Take a Trip to the Beach

A trip to the beach on a sunny day never fails to brighten someone's day, both literally and figuratively. In fact, studies have shown that going to the beach every day is one way to fight off depression because the sounds and sights of the ocean are known to have stress-relieving qualities.

5. Go to the Gym

Exercising releases endorphins and gives your body a natural “high” that can enhance your mood and make you more optimistic. Find the perfect group fitness classes or exercise classes for you. Give it a try if you're feeling down and out.

6. Have a Juicing Session

Many times people get depressed or feel like they have no energy because they're lacking certain nutrients in their diet. A nice well-balanced juicing session can give you a much-needed boost if that's the problem.

7. Meet Someone New

Finally, a great way to spice up your day and create a few lasting memories is to go out into the world and meet someone new. That's right, try talking to a few strangers! It might seem like a weird idea, but stepping out of your anti-social comfort zone every once in a while can allow for very interesting experiences.

Don't Forget the Music

In closing, keep in mind that all of the above can be made better by throwing in some of your favorite tunes and smoking a London Pound Cake strain along the way. Science has found that people who listen to music frequently are less likely to be depressed, and it’s a proven mood enhancer that can accompany just about any activity.

Playing Make Believe as An Adult

little-girl-vampireDid you dress-up as a kid and play make-believe? Did you have costumes that you'd wear to help make the experience even more fun? I didn't really ever do that. Oh, I'd imagine I was somebody, some kind of character, but I wouldn't really take it much further than that as far as dressing up. As I've gotten older and have had my own kids, I've noticed a few families that have entire trunks of costume stuff that their kids play with too. Our kids never really did that much, I'm curious is that's because of my own childhood coming through, or perhaps they just weren't interested in it either.

I grew up in a very conservative home as well. We didn't really celebrate Halloween for the majority of my childhood years while my dad was actively pastoring a church. We had our versions of parties though and yet I still didn't ever really get into the whole dress-up thing. Perhaps the closest I ever came was being involved in drama and acting in a variety of plays, but that's a whole different thing isn't it?

I know a number of adults that still dress-up and attend parties though. Do you? Maybe it's not a Halloween party where you'd need a Halloween fancy dress costume of some sort, but maybe it would be a masquerade party. The other big thing now is cosplay. You've seen this, think all the people dressed up as characters from comic books, super hero films and video games. Lots of people do that these days. There's definitely an entire industry available for people that are interested in this activity as adults.

Maybe I'm just boring. I guess I have a variety of other ways I'd prefer to spend my time and money than dressing up. Come to think of it, I don't spend a lot of money on the clothes I wear every day, it probably makes sense that I wouldn't spend or invest the money on clothes for playing make-believe as an adult.

Taco Bell Seeks To Be Strong #2 for Breakfast

Taco Bell Breakfast Menu

As I was heading into work this morning I caught the tail-end of a news segment about Taco Bell entering the breakfast market on March 27th.

The company is apparently wanting to compete with McDonald's in the breakfast market and the news clip mentioned that that Taco Bell spokesperson stated that it's a vibrant market and there's room for them to compete. Their desire is to "be a strong #2"

For anyone that eats regularly at Taco Bell, you probably already know that being a "strong #2" probably goes without saying doesn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I love Taco Bell. It's cheap, it's enjoyable and it's easy to eat when you're on the run and in a hurry.

But... you may want to re-think your verbiage to be used when promoting your business efforts in the future.
