Ahh, the Ol’ Facebook Algorithm Bypass Hoax

Charlie Choc Factory Meme - Facebook Algorithm

It's starting to make the rounds again through my Facebook feed so I hopefully I'll take a moment and circumvent the useless and misleading instructions for how to make Facebook do what you want it to do on your feed. The gist of the post goes a little something like this:

Hello just doing what everyone else is doing. Fixing my blocked posts. I wondered where everybody had been! This is good to know. It's ridiculous to have 331 friends and only 25 are allowed to see posts. I ignored this post earlier because I didn’t think it worked. It WORKS!! I have a whole new news feed. I’m seeing posts from people I haven’t seen in years. Here’s how to bypass the system FB now has in place that limits posts on your news feed. Their new algorithm chooses the same few people - about 25 - who will read your posts. So, hold your finger down anywhere in this post and "copy" will pop up. Click "copy". Then go to your page, start a new post, and put your finger anywhere in the blank field. "Paste" will pop up and click "paste". This will bypass the system.
If you are reading this message, do me a favor and leave me a quick comment...a "hello," a sticker, whatever you want, so you will appear in my newsfeed It WORKS!! I don’t know how many friends I have. I just want to see all of your posts that I have been missing. We shall see....hello.
Might as well have a go. Because all I see now days is advertising rubbish and politics.

or

Just start I would like to thank Everyone for telling me how to do the bypass. I wondered where everybody had been!
This is good to know: It's ridiculous to have over 397 friends and only 25 are allowed to see my posts.

If you are reading this message, do me a favor and leave me a quick comment...a "hello," a sticker, whatever you want, so you will appear in my newsfeed Good to see everyone!

or... some other variation of the above.

This is a misunderstood fallacy.

What you are in effect doing when you follow these steps is actively engaging with the content someone shared on their page. That is one of the factors that Facebook uses in their algorithm to determine what posts to display in your feed with any kind of priority. It defaults to the people you engage with most. So, you're just tweaking the algorithm they already use for the most part.

Now, caveat... Facebook is not offering this service as a charity or some benevolent contribution to humanity. They're trying to make money. I like to say, if you're not paying for a service, then YOU are what's being sold... your eyeballs, your attention, etc. So, content being boosted by paid advertising is going to show up in your feed regardless of what you do. Don't like it? Go develop your own multi-billion-dollar social media network and you can call all the shots.

One trick you can do that helps a little bit is use this URL to do as much as you can to force Facebook to show you content on your wall in some sort of chronological order (https://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr) Save that link to your favorites so you can always click on it and jump right to that display format.

Discovering the Benefits of Social Media Tools in 2018

Social media has quickly emerged as the dominant force for companies who want to drive conversions. After all, today's customers don't just look for a great price or product from the organizations they interact with. They're searching for an experience that coincides with their values and beliefs. If you can develop a real relationship with your customers through social media, then you not only improve your chance of getting sales, but you could also generate exceptional customer loyalty too.

The problem is, there are so many different social channels out there to work with, that it's incredibly difficult to keep track of where you should be, and what you should be posting. In fact, many companies will get the best ROI from social media marketing if they can commit to more than one channel - but finding the time to do that can be difficult. Fortunately, the digital world has solved the social media management problem in the form of social tools.

Embracing your Social Media Strategy

The average user spends about 2 hours or more a day on social media. That adds up to about 30% of their online browsing time. If you're not active on the right channels, then you could be missing out on an important opportunity to reach out to your audience and convince them to convert. Social media management tools allow today's organizations to automate their posts, evaluate and analyze their performance on different channels, and more. With tons of social media platforms available today like Facebook, Twitter, and Tiktok, there are many ways to help you build a following. There are services like Hypesi that will even allow you to simply buy Tiktok likes to build your platform.

Social media tools save you time, and money while providing you with new opportunities to increase your profits. The only problem is, according to Social Media Examiner, although 97% of all marketers are investing in social media marketing strategies, a huge 85% of them have no idea which tools they could use to improve their performance.

The truth is that getting ahead on social media today isn't just about making sure that you're active on the right channels, it's also about ensuring that you have the right strategies in place to get the best ROI on your campaigns.

Choosing the Right Social Media Tools

Today, no company can really afford to ignore the value of social media. According to some studies, the customers that are active on social media spend anywhere up to 40% more on the companies that they connect with through these channels. Social media can help to make your customers more lucrative and create loyalty among your followers too. However, if you want to get the best results possible, then you'll need to invest in the right tools.

While there's no one-size-fits-all strategy for the perfect social media marketing approach, you can learn a little more about the tools that are right for you with this infographic on the 20 hottest social media tools. This infographic will provide you with the support you need to get the most out of your social media campaigns in 2018 and transform your digital strategy. The more you empower your team with the right resources, the more your social campaigns will thrive.

Social Media Image Sizes Cheat Sheet – Infographic

2016 Social Media Image Sizes Cheat Sheet

This is a great resource for making sure you're using the best sized and optimized images for use across your various social media outposts for your brand. If you're doing any kind of business online ignoring the potential power of social media will most likely not go well for you or your business. However, too many businesses put all of their digital eggs in one social media or spread themselves across too many sites that may not have a good return on investment for your potential customers. If you're customer targets aren't active on a particular social media service, you might want to grab your business name to protect your brand on that service, but you probably shouldn't invest too much effort into feeding that channel with content.

And regardless of what social media site you choose to invest time in for your business, you should really never forsake having your own website for generating business leads. Publish your content first on your own site, that you have full control over (which is why I generally don't recommend services like Wix, SquareSpace, etc. for a full business site. You just don't have all the control you may need over your site and changes you may need to make for your business goals.

But when you're sharing content on social media, be sure you're at least making the effort to optimize the visual content you're sharing to the platform it's being shared.
