I work A LOT! I'm not sure I would consider myself a workaholic though. It's more that I really enjoy doing what I get paid to do so even when I'm not "working" I'm doing stuff that looks a lot like work. But when you enjoy it so much it doesn't feel like work when you're doing it, know what I mean? Of course I still have the deadlines on tasks and the seemingly unending task list I have to deal with on a daily basis. However, I can also say that I'd much rather have a task list looking at me everyday than not having a list of things my clients need done that day. Because if it were the alternative that would mean I don't have enough clients, or my clients aren't doing things that require my help and assistance. And, if that's the case that means I'm not getting paid.
I don't really like spending money on things that don't have a specific purpose. I work hard to make money so that we can do things as a family that we want to do, which usually leads us into opportunities to spend more time together as a family. We enjoy going to Indianapolis Indians games, we attended a terrific one last night! It was chilly, but good times together cheering on the local team. We like travelling, frequently to Disney World, but to other locations as well. Through all of these activities, if I can get things for free I'll pursue those opportunities. If I can negotiate discounts for things I will. I consider it being more thrifty, but I'll accept the cheapskate tag. I worked hard for this money, I don't like letting it just slip through my fingers.
But, those things aren't really what I'm confessing about. You see... (wait for it)... I enjoy playing Farm Town on Facebook. I KNOW RIGHT?! I'll blame my friend Neil for getting me started. I know it's banal. For me it's almost a brainwave free activity that let's me just decharge from the day of being so focused on everything else for work. Perhaps I should also say that I don't think I've ever actually seen a Candy Crush screen and I definitely don't play bingo games like many others. I've also significantly reduced to almost nil, my obsession with completing every level in Angry Birds perfectly.
I may have recently sent the following text to a friend...
Me:Â DUDE! You work your #*@))@ off during the week so you can't farm. I EXPECT YOU TO KEEP SAID #(@)$) ON THE COUCH AND AVAILABLE TO FARM ON YOUR DAYS OFF!
I really didn't curse in the text, I put those in to be funny, but you get the drift.
I'm A Considerate Facebook Gamer
Here's the deal though. I'll bet, unless you were one of my really close friends or family members, you probably had no idea I played Farm Town did you? You've probably never seen a request from me to play that game yourself and hopefully you've never seen an update on my Facebook wall about my game activity. I may have let one slip through, and for that I apologize. What I do is I've created a list of my friends that I know play Farm Town and might be interested in my updates, when I send out status updates about the game, I'll restrict my updates to just that list of Farm Town friends. So, if you see an update from me about Farm Town on your wall, let me know and I'll make sure you're not on my list. And vice-versa, if you'd like to admit to yourself and me that you also play Farm Town and would like to see those updates, then let me know and I'll add you to my list. Oh, and if you'd like to know how to block all updates from a particular app in Facebook, you can click that link, it's changed a little bit with recent Facebook changes, but generally the same instructions apply.
Now that I've got that off my chest I feel better. Have I mentioned I also like Words With Friends? I'm not all Alex Baldwin crazy about it, but you know, let me know!
